Is this an official or even a proper name? I live in Ankara and I have never heard of anyone using this clause to refer to the municipality. The surrounding area as in a greater administrative unit is simply called Ankara. I believe the fact that "municipality" translates to "belediye" in Turkish causes this problem. There are many municipalities in the "greater" Ankara that administer districts or counties (ilçe) like the Municipality of Haymana, Kalecik or Bala. There is also a Metropolitan Municipality of Ankara (Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi) which administers all of these smaller municipalities. The area I believe you are referring to is administered by the Governorship of Ankara (Ankara Valiliği). I could not find the "Greater Ankara" usage in any official sites either. Could you please clarify why you have used this term? I recommend "Province of Ankara" or "Ankara (province)" Faravignon 14:49, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)
